Abstract: The purpose of the thesis is to study the newlinerheological behaviour of blood flow in microcirculatory system. The whole newlinethesis is divided into seven chapters. newline Chapter 1 deals with a general introduction, which contains the newlinebasic information about cardiovascular system (CVS), its primary newlinecomponents, their composition and role in blood flow, the magnetic effect newlineon blood flow, basic information about an atherosclerosis or stenosis, newlinealong with its formation, development, progression and, its treatment newlinemodalities and also a brief account of the present work. newline Chapter 2 accounts for a mathematical model for the hydromagnetic newlineblood flow in the non-Darcy porous medium with a heat source and Joule newlineeffect is discussed. A uniform magnetic field acts perpendicular to the newlineporous surface. The present study finds its applications in surgical newlineoperations, industrial material processing and various heat transfer newlineoperations. newline Chapter 3 deals with the hydro-magnetic inclined arterial blood flow newlinethrough a porous medium with thermal radiation. Further, as it is reported newlinethat an elevation of blood viscosity could be a serious risk factor in several newlinediseases like, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, renal and arterial newlinedisorders, it seems to be necessary to measure blood viscosity in the artery. newlineThis can be used as a device in measuring blood viscosity for patients with newlinediseased arteries. newline newline newline newline Chapter 4 addresses a theoretical analysis for pulsatile bio-magnetic newlineMHD blood flow with heat and mass transfer in the presence of variable newlineviscosity. The effects of various parameters like Reynolds number, hydromagnetic newline newlineparameter, variable viscosity parameter, Chemical reaction newlineparameter, Schmidt number and Prandtl number on the velocity, newlinetemperature and concentration have been examined with the help of newlinegraphs. newline Chapter 5 accommodates a mathematical model for blood flow newlinethrough a stenosed artery in the presence of thermal radiation under the newlineinfluence of an externally applied magnetic field. The results have an newlineimportant bearing on the therapeutic procedure of hyperthermia, newlineparticularly in understanding/regulating blood flow and heat transfer in newlinecapillaries. newline Chapter 6 considers the flow of blood, in a catheterized stenosed newlineartery when blood is represented by MHD Newtonian fluid. It is reflected newlinethat an increase in catheter radius reduces the axial velocity. newline Chapter 7 devoted to determine the effects of Soret and Dufour on newlineMHD mixed convection blood flow of a viscous incompressible electrically newlineconducting fluid through a stenosed artery. The results obtained from the newlinestudy can be used in regularizing the values of the model parameters and newlinehence can be used for medical applications. newline newline
