Abstract: | Migration is a vital component of the struggle for survival by the rural, which entitles both newlinecost and benefits of migrants and families. The agricultural production can not meet all the basic need of rural peoples, so s ea so na l and c i r c u l a r m i g r a t i o n of l a bo ur for e mp l o y m en t ha s become one of the most d u r a b l e components of the li v e li h ood newlines t r a t e g i e s of p e op l e living in r u r a l areas in I n d i a ( Deshingkar , 2003) . Rural to urban newlinemigration is a common feature of developing economies, as people travel to larger cities in newlinesearch of better employment opportunities. In places where farmers rely on seasonal crops for their livelihood, seasonal migration is a way for rural poor households to increase their newlineincome and mitigate the risk inherent in an agriculture-dependent economy. It has growth newlineproducing and poverty-reducing potentially. Seasonal and circular migration has long been part of the livelihood portfolio of poor people across India. Lack of gainful employment and newlinelow agricultural production coupled with poverty in rural areas has pushed people out of their villages in search of a better standard of living in the cities of developing countries newline(Deshingkar and Akhtar, 2013) . Generally, these groups of people do not possess the skills which enable them to find well-paid, secure employment in the formal sector; as a newlineconsequence, they have to settle down themselves with informal sector employment. |
