dc.description.abstractWork-life of IT Professionals: A Study of Job Stress of some select IT Companies newlineAbstract newlineInformation technology has made the world as global village and brought many foreign trades across the national boundaries and helped in integrating the culture worldwide. India is considered as IT hub and it is growing in faster phase; its presence is felt all over the world. In IT and ITES services, India is considered as one of the pioneer and it attracts most young talents to this industry. The problem of stress is not only the concern for employees but also to the organisation as it affects the productivity and also has substantial associated costs. This study is focused on understanding the stress intensity of IT professionals and how it affects their work and personal life, how they manage the stress to have peaceful work and family life. The study focuses on primary and secondary data. The primary data is collected from questionnaire method and a final 402 sample respondents are included in the study by using random sampling technique. The response was collected for each component by using 5-point Likert scale. A pilot study is carried out for a sample size of 40. The Cronbach s alpha technique was used to estimate reliability of the questionnaire. The Cronbach s Alpha is above 0.70 for all the variables and therefore, it is concluded that the measures used in the instrument are valid and reliable. Descriptive analysis is done to know the nature and spread of the data. The Chi-square test is utilized to know the association between demographic variables and job stress. The Multiple regression analysis is also used to assess the impact of research variables on job stress. Pearson s correlation coefficient technique is used to see the relationship between stress and research variables. The result shows that the less experienced newline newlinerespondents have high stress. The night shift respondents experienced more stress compared to respondents with day shifts.
