Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineMobile Ad-hoc network (MANET) is one of the most popular network technologies in the field of research and development. Mobile Ad-hoc Network is a collection of wireless hosts that creates a network spontaneously without using any network infrastructure or centralized administration. The key properties of the Ad-hoc network such as mobility and nonexistence of infrastructure make it more valuable. Multiple hops are needed for one node to transfer the information to another node within the network due to the bounded transmission wireless network interface. Therefore the routing protocols are backbone of the network communication. These protocols are suffering from the security and performance issues due to their random mobility and Ad-hoc nature of topology creation. Therefore the presented work is devoted to find the efficient as well as secure routing solution for Mobile Ad-hoc network. newline newlineIn order to achieve the desired goal first the different routing protocols are investigated and their performance comparison is analyzed. Finally the efficient routing protocol which is capable to serve large and small network is selected for further experimentation. Similarly in next step different kinds of routing based attacks are investigated and the network characteristics during attack conditions and normal conditions are observed. In this phase four different attacks namely Black-hole, Worm-hole, Gray-hole and Denial of Service attack is elected for experimentation. newline newlineIn order to incorporate secured communication in our solution, a new technique using Intrusion Detection System is required to design. In the proposed security system network organization contains a server node, end clients and cluster heads. Client nodes are active communicator and for supporting the communication, cluster heads are providing the path ways. Additionally, these nodes sample the network characteristics and update into the server node. Server node is trained with historical attack samples and also equipped with an intelligent algori
