Effects of physical activity programme on health related physical fitness of intellectually disabled children

Abstract

The present study explores the effects of physical activity programme on health related physical fitness of intellectually disabled children. The variables such as aerobic functioning, the degree of body leanness or fatness, muscular strength, muscular endurance and flexibility are considered as most prominent factors that decide the health related physical fitness of intellectually disabled children. The twelve-weeks physical activity programme was implemented to meet the purpose of the study. After the implementation of said programme, significant improvementwas observed in the health related physical fitness of intellectually disabled children. The fact established through the study can be utilized to improve the health related physical fitness of intellectually disabled children. The present study will enable physical educationists to develop school curriculum of the intellectually disabled students to improve their health-related physical fitness. newline
