The need for renewable sources, importance of renewable energy and an emphasis on solar newlineenergy will be briefed out. Current scenario of photovoltaic technology is emphasized. Later newlinesections will address the third generation solar cells, working principles, its current scenario, newlinepros, cons and limitations. Quantum dots and its properties, operational mechanism and brief newlineexplanation for different components of the device is covered. The enhanced surface area and active sites of partially conducting GNRs, newlineexcellent mobility, its 1D quasi structure are the factors that has prompted improvement in the newlineperformance. The designed heterostructure and the counter newlineelectrode performs exceptionally well with a good stability, thus spiking new hopes in achieving high efficiency in quantum dot solar cells. The photovoltaic performance by IV, IPCE, Impedance and newlinecapacitance-voltage studies substantiates the augmentation of electron injection rate, attributed newlineto strong conjugated molecular bridges established in this aromatic linker, assisting shift of newlinefermi level of TiO2 and quick electron tunnelling. Remarkable recombination newlineresistance offered by these ceramics avoid the back electron transfers via the downward shift newlineof valence band (VB) much closer to that of sensitizer. These ceramics act as barriers (or newlinepassivation layer) to effectively suppress electron recombinations, resulting in high stability newlineand Voc. Devices designed with these new HTLs show efficiencies on par with polysulphide newlineand are extremely stable for almost up to 60 days (in ambient conditions). Cells fabricated with newlinepolysulphide electrolyte tend to degrade the device within 5 days. The work sufficiently addressed the newlinestability for 30 days in ambient conditions with no loss in the efficiency. Our future work would newlinetarget the concern of using non-toxic QDs and to further unravel the ceramic hole transport newlinelayer as solid state electrolyte to improve the current in the device. newline
