Abstract: | The goal of my research was to discover the much ignored, neglected, impoverished tribal newlineartisans of Dhokra metal craft of Jharkhand and try to show to the world that in this newlinecorner of the world too the lost wax technique for metal casting has been practised since newlinetime immemorial, with some difference. My endeavours aim at drawing the attention of newlinethe administration, so that some Government aids, support and financial help may trickle newlinedown to these BPL families, who do not have any Ration card or Adhar card and are newlinenot provided the right of universal adult franchise, so that they and their craft might newlinebe protected from getting lost under the enormous craze of people for modern science newlineand technology. I desired that just as the neighbouring states of Jharkhand have done a newlinepraiseworthy job in protecting the dhokra Artists of their areas, similarly we should also newlinedo our best for the upheaval of the Malhore tribes of Jharkhand who still practise this newlineart in Jharkhand. newlineMy aim was also to introduce the coming up, budding artists of tomorrow with this simple newlinebut complex technique of metal casting practised by the tribals of Jharkhand in the newlinemost unique style with peculiar materials and tools easily available anywhere.I wanted the newlinenew art students to adopt the Indian metal casting technique instead of adopting routine newlineforiegn prodcedures which are more expensive than the indegenous methods of India. newlineThe completion of the complex research within the timeframe can be attributed to Jharkhand s newlinededicated N.G,O s, libraries, elaborate information available on the internet, my newlineown interest in Dhokra Craft, my hard work and endeavours, and last not the least the newlineable and proper support provided to me by my Guide. newline |
