Abstract: | The dictionary meaning of ubiquitous is existing or appearing everywhere at any time. Ubiquitous computing is the term that is formed after combining the term ubiquitous with computing. These days Information and communication technology (ICT) products and solutions are made available everywhere to enable information and tasks. Ubiquitous computing is one of the most disruptive and emerging technology of present time with applications in many areas like manufacturing, healthcare, real estate etc. The world has shifted from the world of content to the world of context. Instead of software development alone, focus is more on service implementation now. As ubiquitous computing is the latest trend in modern computing, all the current ICT solutions will shift to ubiquitous computing environment in coming few years. Ubiquitous computing is taking a new place in everyone s life. Broadly, there are many different focus areas of ubiquitous computing research i.e. systems, design and development framework, experience and sensors/hardware etc. newlineDesign of standards and framework for these applications is an ongoing research area. Till date, no standard or perfect framework of ubiquitous characteristics exist which can define the ubiquity of an application? Due to lack of required ubiquity measure at design stage, many applications have been declared unsuitable. Many running applications have been discarded and new version of application was required to be built to capture the new devices and new technology. Generally, devices are embedded in the environment and new technology is used for network and communication of various components of the ubiquitous computing application. These days, ubiquitous systems cannot be imagined without the inclusion of internet of things and cyber physical systems. newlineThe main motivation of present research started after finding there is a lack of methods and quantitative measurement for measuring the ubiquity of the solution at design, implementation and usage level. |
