Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineConstruction is an on-going process which starts with well-defined construction plans, newlinedesigning the projects, financing the project till its completion. Construction sector is newlineconsidered as the prime sector which assists in the socio-economic development of the newlineworld. This sector is designated as the industry which increases gross domestic benefits newlineof the developed and developing countries. During the last few decades, the newlineconstruction industry has provided an enormous growth worldwide. India and United newlineStates are the top most countries which earn greatest construction outputs and the total newlineoutput was estimated 620 billion and 599 billion US dollars respectively. In India, there newlineare several states that have been working on the construction projects of different newlinecategories. Construction work in India is quite important because it formulates the most newlinenecessary source of income for the poorest segments of the Indian society. The output newlineis low in the developing world but still the construction industry of India is quite large newlinewith around 1.7percent volume of the international construction output. newlineAmong these states, Tamil Nadu state is famous one having 32 districts and newlineseven districts located in Northern region are the regions where most of the newlineconstruction work is carried out. Chennai is the main zone which has been promising newlineespecially with the rise of applications related to information technology. There are newlinemany construction companies that are working in the region. Smart City Construction newlineannounces by Central Govt of India to expand the revenue earned form the construction newlinesector. The importance of the construction sector in the development of the national newlineeconomy cannot be denied. The socio-economic development of India and especially newlineTamil Nadu is also dependent on the construction sector to some extent. Therefore, newlinethere is a need to initiate the study to understand the socioeconomic status of the people newlineand issues of construction workers.
