Abstract: newlineOne of the most important sectors of any economy of a country is the service sector or tertiary sector. Services are the intangible goods that provide services to other business as well as consumers. A service includes transportation, financial services, hospitality, distribution, entertainment, software etc. newlineThe service sector of India, the fastest growing sector has contributed to about 61% to India s GDP which is increasing at the rate of 10% pa in 2015-2016. A report was published by KPMG and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) which states that India is the second fastest growing services economy of the world. In global services exports, the share of India was 3.2 per cent in 2014-15 placing India in the eighth place currently amongst the top ten exporters of service in the world. newlineInformation technology is the global leader of the country and is of $108 billion worth of export of services to various countries like Europe, United States and United Kingdom. More than 3.7 million people of India are working in India which makes IT sector to be the largest private sector of employer in the country. newlineThe Work Foundation has defined Work Life Balance as: newline Work-life balance is about people having a measure of control over when, where and how they work. It is achieved when an individual s right to a fulfilled life inside and outside paid work is accepted and respected as the norm, to the mutual benefit of the individual, business and society. newlineJeffrey H. Greenhaus, Karen M. Collins and Jason D. Shaw have proposed three components of Work Family Balance which are as follows: newline Time balance: an equal amount of time devoted to work and family roles. newline Involvement balance: an equal level of psychological involvement in work and family roles. newline Satisfaction balance: an equal level of satisfaction with work and family roles. newline2 newlineEach component of work family balance can represent positive balance or negative balance depending on whether the levels of time, involvement, or satisfaction are equally high or equally low. newlineRole ambiguity creates huge amount of frustration among the employees and that directly affects their work productivity. Hence if some efforts are taken by both the employer as well as the individuals some solution can be found out to solve the problem of Work life balance.
