The study deals with the evaluation of neuroprotective effect of Charantin in Alzhiemers disease Charantin was isolated form Momordica charantia L Var Bitter gourd and characterized by performing IR NMR As it was earlier proved that amyloid beta deposition and cognition are inter-related neuroblastoma cell lines SH SY5Y were utilized in this study to prove the effectiveness of charantin against neurotoxin and endoplasmic reticulum stress induced cell death The study further deals with the utilization of zebra fish model to study the memory enhancing property of charantin The constituents obtained from different species of Momordica were proved to possess hypolipidaemic and antioxidant roles hence proved in several researches to be well employed in the treatment of diabetes and even in Ayurveda formulations as well Here we have made an attempt to study the memory enhancing role of Charantin isolated from M.charantia Var due to its antioxidant nature The present investigation shows the neuroprotective effect of M.charantia and Charantin obtained from the plant can be employed as a memory enhancer in Alzheimers related dementias further to be evaluated clinically by formulating charantin newline
