Abstract: The main objective of this thesis is to develop robust multiplicative watermarking techniques for the security of digital data such as images and videos. The digital data security is very essential in today s networked multimedia communicated environment and it is an active area of research. The main issues faced in digital data communication are copyright infringement and data tampering. The common sources of these issues are illegal distributors, attackers, unethical and illegal users who will do copyright violation. It is necessary to perform copyright protection of the digital data in order to authenticate the creator/owner of the data and also to verify whether the transmitted data is modified or not in end-to-end communication. Digital watermarking is a technique which addresses the above issues by inserting digital information into the digital data that needs to be authenticated. A few other applications of digital watermarking are user authentication, fingerprinting, usage monitoring, and copy protection, etc. Digital watermarking can be performed either in spatial domain or in transform domain. The transform domain techniques are much popular as the watermark will be inserted in an invisible manner and it is also robust to a set of attacks. The watermark can be embedded either in additive or multiplicative manner. The multiplicative watermarking schemes exhibit more robustness compared to the additive watermarking schemes. In this thesis, robust multiplicative digital watermarking schemes have been proposed for digital image and video security.
