Abstract: The research work embodied in this thesis is planned to synthesize some new heterocyclic substituted imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives in order to test them for newlinetheir potential antimicrobial activity. The plan of work, synthesis, characterization, the conclusion drawn and experimental details are presented in five chapters. At the end newlineof each chapter appropriate literature citations are given. The important aspects, experimental results and structural elucidation are briefly described in this thesis. The experimental data and spectral data are presented in the form of tables and a good newlinenumber of spectra are shown in figures. Antimicrobial activity data is presented in the last chapter newline
