dc.description.abstractAn autobiography is an ancient style of writing. Self-accounting and selfreflection are its integral parts. The first usage of the term autobiography was done newlineby Robert Southey in 1807. Stuart E Bates and Philipe Lejuene gave their own newlinedefinitions for Autobiography. It is an expanding genre and its self-expression and newlineexploratory insights gave them popularity among its readers. The paradoxical status of newlinethe autobiography lies in the manner in which it stands as the simplest literary newlineenterprise, yet according to James Olney, it is the most daring step taken by an newlineindividual as the autobiography features truth and identity of the autobiographer. In newlinefact, Leigh Gilmore opines that an individual evolves through autobiography.
