VIABILITY OF DIFFERENT NON CONVENTIONAL ENERGY SOURCES in WEST BENGAL an EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Since 1993, there had been growing mandate to promote Renewable Energy Technologies and newlinecreate an environment conducive for the commercialization through innovative projects. In case of our State , West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency ( WBREDA) is the State Nodal Agency for implementation of Non- Conventional Energy Programmes in the State of West Bengal. Not only the Govt. Sectors , but also the other private sectors are actively involved in broader spectrum in case of dissemination of Renewable Energy sources in every parts of West Bengal in a effective way.The State of West Bengal is blessed with abundant sources of Renewable Energy in the form of Solar, Wind , Biomas, Biogas, Hydro, Tidal etc. These eternal sources of energy has a vital role newlinein socio economic development of not only West Bengal , but also the Country as a whole.Renewable Energy holds the key to the future of energy , food and economic security. Speciality of the New and Renewable Energy sources are that they are closely linked with Energy Efficiency Energy Conservation and Climate issues like Global Warming . newlineOur study examines the various indicators of Renewable Energy development in different newlinedistricts of West Bengal and attempts to establish a comparative analysis of various indicators of establishing Renewable Energy based power projects in West Bengal . The present study tries to develop an alternative financing scheme for Renewable Energy development in West Bengal compared to other states of India. newline
