Abstract: | An objective of the present research work is to provide improved non-synthetic based contraceptive formulations extract of Ficus racemosa Bark, Piper betle Petiole, Moringa oleifera Root, Aloe barbadensis Leaf, and Cestrum nocturnum Leaf, rising approaches of herbal contraception. newline newlineIn the present study, on the basis of their folklore uses and various other uses mentioned in literature Standardization of the crude drug was performed according to ICH guidelines. Pharmacognostical, physicochemical and phytochemical investigation was performed and purity and identity of plants was confirmed. Oral acute toxicity study (LD50), biochemical and hematological study of different extracts revealed the safety of the plant given at a dose of 2000 mg/kg b.w. Alcoholic and aqueous extracts of plant material were evaluated for antifertility activity, Reproductive outcome, Anti-implantation, Abortifacient and Estrogenic and Anti-estrogenic activity, were observed at the dose level of 500 mg/kg b.w. for 30 days, in proven fertile female Wistar Rats. newlineFrom the above outcome, it is concluded that more potent alcoholic extracts was selected of the formulation F1 (AFR:AMO:APB =1:1:1) 500mg/kg on oral dose given more significant value, poly herbal extracts are prepared and converted into Poly herbal tablets using natural polymer as binding agent and disintegrating agent, Those tablets were evaluating for drug content, weight variation, hardness, friability, Disintegration time, and stability study. Stability study was also conducted as per ICH guidelines and all formulations were found to be stable. Pharmacological activity of the developed formulation were performed which showed promising results. The results concluded that Poly-Herbal Tablet of this combination extract will leads to improved effectiveness and hence better patient s compliances. newline newlineKey Words: Acute oral toxicity study, Reproductive outcome, Anti-implantation, Abortifacient, Estrogenic and Antiestrogenic, Hormonal analysis newline newline |
