dc.description.abstract | The present research focuses towards ventilating the emotional suffocation of the employees in management institutions, considering their level of emotionality. The sample comprise of 400 employees randomly selected from management institutes in and around Agra, Mathura, NOIDA and Meerut. Out of these, a purposive sample of 20 employees selected from Part - A of the study, identified as extremely high on emotional suffocation is included as sample in Part B of the study. Eysenck s Personality Profiler (EPP) by Eysenck, Wilson and Jackson (2008); Emotional suffocation / ventilation scale by Sandhu, Kaushik and Kaushik (2013) and a structured Performa are used for generating data. Psychological intervention techniques (i.e. Cognitive Restructuring, Guided Imagery, Jacobson Progressive Relaxation Technique and Reading Scriptures) are used to help employees ventilate their emotional suffocation. Pre and post test measures is taken to find out any significant change brought about in the emotional suffocation due to the intervention. Results show that emotionality dimensions are significant contributors and correlates of emotional suffocation with about 57.1% contribution accounted for by the emotionality in determining emotional suffocation for employees. Among emotionality dimensions inferiority is the most contributing dimension followed by guilt and anxiety, whereas obsessiveness is the least contributing dimension in determining emotional suffocation. A significant difference in emotional suffocation of employees with high and low emotionality is evident. The female employees and later age group employees suffer more from high emotional suffocation. Results regarding psychological intervention techniques reveal that a combination of techniques as compared to using individual technique is more effective. The psychological intervention impacts and ventilates the emotional suffocation of the employees irrespective of their emotionality level. Finally, the analysis of the socio -demographic and psycho-social variables show birth order, Number of siblings, home and social environment, health care and leisure time or social activities, significantly associated with the emotional suffocation of the employees. newline | |
