dc.description.abstractA series of CdTe nanocrystals of controlled size in a strong newlineconfinement regime by a simple synthetic route were developed using new newlineprecursors In general a metal salt is reacted with the compound containing newlinechalcogenide ions in the presence of an organic solution which newlinestabilizes or passivates the particle surfaces formed during the reaction The newlinedesired particle sizes can be achieved by adjusting the concentration of the newlinereactants and type of thiocarboxylic acids and precursors The size dependent newlineproperties of CdTe nanoparticles and their multi functional core shell newlinecomponents were characterized through optical absorption newlinephotoluminescence transmission electron microscopy TEM FT IR and newlineRaman spectroscopy X ray diffraction XRD Energy Dispersive X ray newlineAnalysis EDAX thermal analysis TG DTG curves and electron newlineparamagnetic resonance EPR studies newline newlineen_US
