Relationship Between Positive and Negative Affectivity_Emotional Intelligence Attribution and Marital Satisfaction

Abstract

Although association between Negative and Positive Affectivity, Attribution and MS is well documented, research has not examined the association between El and MS. Drawing an association between NA, PA, Attribution, and Marital Satisfaction, the present study tried to understand the relationship between these variables adding Emotional Intelligence, in Indian context. Data from (S=150) hundred and fifty married couples were used to test the hypothesis. Negative affectivity was found negatively correlated to Marital Satisfaction, showing decrease in MS, while Emotional Intelligence and Positive affectivity were positively correlated to Marital Satisfaction, showing enhancement in Marital Satisfaction. Although Attribution was not correlated to Marital Satisfaction, certain types of Attributions were negatively correlated to Marital Satisfaction. The findings reject the direct association between attributions and Marital Satisfaction and emphasize the possibility that the relation Negative Affectivity has with Attribution contributes to Marital Dissatisfaction. newline
