Abstract: | New surgical techniques and advances in intensive care and medical treatment have significantly lowered mortality rates for children and adolescents with complex congenital heart disease (CHD). Survivors are at risk for neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological morbidity caused by both biological and environmental risk factors. Among pediatric patients with complex CHD, there is a distinctive pattern of neuro-developmental and be neuropsychology impairment characterized by mild cognitive impairment, impaired social interaction, and impairments in core communication skills, including pragmatic language, as well as attention, impulsive behaviour, and impaired executive functions. In view of this, the present study was carried out to find the effectiveness of retraining intelligence, cognitive, behavioural and emotional functioning in children (female) with congenital heart disease. With the aim of developing and implementing a neuropsychological intervention program for children with congenital heart defect to retrain neuropsychological and neuro developmental functions. In present study the investigation was carried out in three dimensions namely: pre intervention, intervention and post intervention followed by the evaluation of the intervention program. The sample selected for the study included 4- 8 year old 200 female children with congenital heart defect. newline |
