Abstract: | The increase of coloured, hazardous dye pollutants has led to the excessive addition of carcinogens in the environment. Uncontrolled volumes of textile effluents discharged into potable water-bodies significantly escalate the possibility of health hazards and environmental deterioration due to the presence of hazardous dye contaminants. Thus, a sensitive, rapid and facile detection and degradation method is required. In this study, Graphene oxide mediated surface enhanced Raman scattering (G-SERS) based sensors were studied using various nanoparticles. Further, removal of these dye contaminants through advanced oxidation processes by graphene oxide based nanoparticles was studied. Graphene based nanomaterials such as silver nanoparticles embedded graphene oxide nanosheets, gold nanoparticles embedded graphene oxide nanosheets, silver/titania nanoparticles embedded graphene oxide nanosheets, gold/titania nanoparticles embedded graphene oxide nanosheets and silver nanospheres embedded and#949;-caprolactone/reduced graphite oxide nano layers were used in this work as substrates.
