Abstract: | newlineWith the growing stress on todays power systems utilities are newlineincreasingly facing the threat of transient stability problem It entails the newlineevaluation of power systems ability to withstand a set of severe but credible newlinecontingencies and to survive transition to an acceptable steady state Many newlinedifferent techniques providing different stability indices have been proposed newlinefor transient stability analysis in power systems The time domain simulations newlinemethod expresses the Critical Clearing Time of the fault that indicates newlinewhether the system is stable or not The direct method employing energy newlinefunctions provides a stability index that gives the stability margin of an newlineoperating point in terms of energy stored in the system The Extended Equal newlineArea Criterion is another direct method offering the degree of stability of the newlinesystem in terms of the Transient Stability Index These methods are termed as newlineconventional transient stability analysis techniques and need a large newlinecomputational time Hence there is a pressing need for effective and efficient newlinetools for online transient stability analysis newline newline |
