The parameters relating to service life of concrete structures are newlineenvironmental parameters and material parameters Studies on concrete and newlinesteel are the most important materials relevant to be considered with the newlinematerial parameters The concrete characteristics such as alkalinity newlineresistivity permeability and diffusion influences the time for initiation of newlinecorrosion whereas during propagation the factors governing the rate of newlinecorrosion are metallurgical composition of steels and rate of chloride and newlineoxygen concentration So far no correlation was established between shortterm newlineaccelerated corrosion tests and long term performance accordingly the newlineexperiments were carried out over a period of more than 3 years newline newlineen_US
