dc.description.abstractPrestressed concrete box girder bridges are the most common form newlineof long span bridges The analysis and design of box girder bridges is quite newlinecomplex due to its complex threedimensional behaviour consisting of newlinebending in longitudinal and transverse directions torsion and distortion The newlinecomplexity is increased by the effect of shear lag warping of crosssections newlineand associated influences on transverse load distributions Though newlineconsiderable work is available on finite element analysis of box girder newlinebridges there is hardly any report on nonlinear finite element analysis of newlineprestressed concrete box girder bridges considering nonlinear material newlineproperties As most of the box girders are now being constructed using newlineprestressing a good and reliable method of their analysis has become newlinenecessary newline newlineen_US
