Abstract: | Sustainable energy is one of the key and dominant factor that decides the economic growth of a country. In a developing country like India, the role of energy crisis has a direct impact on the countryand#8223;s Gross Domestic Product newline(GDP), as agricultural sector contributes to 16% of countryand#8223;s GDP. The newlineagricultural output depends on the adequate and timely supply of water. Yet, newlinethe principal constraints are due to ground water level fluctuations, urbanization, population rise and erratic monsoon. Furthermore, the dependency of farmers on ground water irrigation for the agricultural newlineapplications paves way for increase in demand for electrical energy which is newlinesubstantiality not proportional to the growing demand. This scenario urges the newlinenecessity for energy conservation to be adopted in the agricultural sector such newlinethat several energy conservation techniques will provide a basic platform to newlineenrich the proper usage of available resources in the country thereby reducing newlinethe demand for energy crisis to a reasonable extent. The harvesting of groundwater irrigation in India extensively depends on the efficient usage of agricultural submersible pump-sets. Rural irrigation newlinein India is carried out by agricultural pump-sets whose average efficiency is newlinearound 40-50%. The penetration and the usage of the inefficient agricultural newlinepumps is the root cause for the growing demand for energy crisis in the Indian newlineagricultural sector. If these agricultural pump-sets are redesigned from the newlineperspective of energy efficiency and cost, it will lead to considerable amount newlineof power saving which will enhance the energy conservation as a measure for newlinethe growth and development of sustainable energy. The Electric Motor (EM) newlineis the prime machine (prime over) which is used in the agricultural pump-sets newlinefor groundwater based irrigation applications. newline newline |
