dc.description.abstract | A two-dimensional numerical investigation is made, in cold newlinewater saturated porous cavity, with the effect of density maximum and newlinesinusoidal heating on the sidewall. A systematic approach of this study newlineexhibits the change in fluid flow, heat and mass transfer under various newlinephysical conditions. It incorporates the effect of internal heat newlineabsorption/generation. Also this study includes the double-diffusive natural newlineconvection induced by the combined effect of thermal and species newlineconcentration. An inclined square porous cavity is considered for the present newlinestudy. The left wall is considered to be the hot wall and temperature along newlinethat wall is varied sinusoidally. The right wall is maintained at constant newline(lower) temperature. The concentrations on the left and right wall are l c , h c newlinerespectively with h l c gt c . The top and bottom walls are considered to be newlineadiabatic and impermeable to mass transfer. This numerical study is executed newlinefor the Darcy numbers 1 10and#61485;and#61472;, 2 10and#61485;and#61472;, 3 10and#61485;and#61472;, 4 10and#61485;and#61472;, 5 10and#61485;and#61472;, the porosity values 0.4, 0.5, newline0.6, 0.7, 0.8 and for the density inversion parameters 0 and#61603;and#61472;and#61603;1 m T . Also the newlineRayleigh number is fixed as 6 10 throughout the study. The angle of newlineinclination and#61542;and#61472;for this study ranging from and#61551;and#61472;0 to and#61551;and#61472;90 . The effects of density newlineinversion, Rayleigh number, Darcy number and porosity are studied by using newlineBrinkmann-Forchheimer extended Darcy model. The solution of governing newlineequations is obtained by using finite volume method. The central difference newlinescheme is used to discretize the convective terms and upwind scheme is used newlinefor diffusive terms. The obtained results are presented in the form of newlinestreamlines, isotherms, isoconcentration lines and velocity profiles. Increase newlinein Darcy number and porosity increases the heat transfer rate. Due to the newlineincrease in density inversion parameter, the fluctuations in heat transfer are newlineobserved. That is, the effect of density inversion parameter changes the newline newline | |
