dc.description.abstract | Education especially higher education is undergoing a paradigm newlineshift by integrating technology The turn towards the Information and newlineCommunication Technologies ICT based teachinglearning over the past newlinetwo decades is assumed to have revolutionized and revitalized the higher newlineeducation sector tremendously Thus stark ultimatums continue to be made newlineby education technologists that universities must either transform or die in newlinethe face of technological progress Bates 2004 The ICT driven changes have newlineleft concepts like distance and time totally redundant newlineThroughout the world Universities especially technical universities newlineare incorporating ICT in their teachinglearning activities administration newlinemaintaining and distribution of resources But despite huge efforts to position newlineICT as a central tenet of University education the fact that most students and newlinefaculty make only limited academic use of ICT during their teaching and newlinelearning is hardly discussed by educational technologists newlineTechnical universities in Tamil Nadu have offered several ICT newlinefacilities for the past few decades Universities have ICT in administration newlineacademics and for research purpose In spite of investing huge ICT newlineinfrastructure Universities still are not attaining the expectations and their newlinepractical implementation of ICT is very low Few researches and surveys newlinehave revealed the situation but there is hardly much research in the Indian newlinecontext The need of the hour is to study the Knowledge Attitude and newlinePractice KAP of ICT among the students and teachers of engineering newlineeducation and its impact on their communication behaviour It will give real newlinefacts about the ICT practices in the Universities the studentsteachers newlinecommunication behaviour and impact of ICT on teachinglearning process newlineIn order to understand the role of ICT in engineering education the newlinefollowing objectives were framed First to trace the existing ICT environment newlinein technical Universities to know the Knowledge Attitude and Practice newlineKAP of ICT among the students and teachers of technical Univers | en_US |
