Energy Efficient and Reliable Routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

In recent years, advancement in microelectronics and wireless technologies has paved the way to develop low cost integrated sensor devices. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been gaining tremendous popularity and used in various real time applications such as defense surveillance, civilian and industrial applications. newlineEnhancement of network lifetime by conservation of energy is the vital challenge in development of WSNs. Since sensor nodes are developed with limited resources, those must be used judiciously and efficiently. WSNs are deployed in hostile environments for most of the applications and its property of not being under the supervision of human being make it nearly impossible to get the battery recharged or replaced. Sensor nodes newlineconsume some amount of energy for sensing, processing and predominantly for data newlinetransmission. Routing protocols play vital role in conserving energy and reliable data transmission. Many recent routing protocols focus on conservation of energy but fail in optimally balancing the energy and reliable data transmission. In this context we have proposed some set of energy efficient routing protocols, those significantly enhance the network lifetime, reliable data transmission, latency and throughput. newline
