Abstract: | The increasing demand of materials to cater the needs of modern civilization is a global challenge for chemists, physicists, metallurgists and material scientists. It is of immense importance to develop more and more novel materials with specific properties but at low cost. Since the pure materials are unable to meet the current property requirements, the development of binary composite materials is of potential importance. It is important to note that binary materials are obtained by the combination of two or more components and they give unique properties and better service than those of parent materials. Metallic polyphase materials, namely, metallic eutectics, monotectics and inter-metallic compounds offer an interesting are of investigations in metallurgy and material science with a view to develop new materials of commercial and technical importance. But due to high transformation temperature, difficulty involved in purification, opacity, large density driven convection effects and limited choice of materials, the metallic systems are not suitable for detail investigations. newlineOrganic materials used for different electronic applications including conductors, semiconductors, dielectrics, are similar to those of inorganic materials. They offer additional advantages in terms of cost, easy in processing, quick response time and also provide a great degree of freedom in choosing them and integrating such electronic materials with wide range of substrates. In addition, option of manipulation in functional groups present with organic molecules gives extra flexibility which lacks with inorganic materials. newline |
