Abstract

Endometrium is a hormone dependent structure which undergoes cyclic changes throughout the reproductive period in women Endometrium is a connective tissue layer with mucosa consisting of simple columnar epithelium, endometrial glands and stroma Myometrium is a muscular layer which undergoes hypertrophy during newlinepregnancy and perimetrium of the uterus is an adventitial layer Standring S 2008 Microscopically endometrial glands are tubular which are sometimes coiled and run perpendicularly to reach the myometrium Endometrium has two layers namely stratum functionalis and stratum basalis. The stratum functionalis is the superficial functional layer which undergoes rhythmic changes in each menstrual cycle and eventually sloughed off during menstruation. The stratum basalis is the deeper layer which proliferates and grows into stratum functionalis after menstruation newline newline
