dc.description.abstractThe challenge for safety footwear is to fulfill a range of roles and newlinefunctions simultaneously The choice of safety footwear is a very subjective newlineone involving a range of practical and emotional considerations Such choice newlinebrings its own challenges in ensuring that the most appropriate footwear is newlineselected One of the most important inputs is the choice of the upper material newlineBuffalo hides have a compact grain larger area and good substance Hence this newlinematerial is used in India for making safety shoe upper leather These shoe newlineuppers are usually of full chrome or chrome retanned hides and used with newlineleather or synthetic lining In our work while processing the leather for safety newlineshoe the water vapour permeability water vapour absorption ability to pick up newlineperspiration thermal conductivity increase in dimension to adjust the foot at newlineextreme conditions resistance to water penetration through the grain side were newlinegiven prime importance for good comfort newlineOf these comfort properties one of the most important inherent newlineproperties of leather is the ability to absorb water vapour through the flesh side newlineand subsequent permeation into the atmosphere to keep the foot free from newlinesweating newline newlineen_US
