Abstract: | newlineThis dissertation is comprises of the synthesis and characterization newlineof four series of structurally similar with varying in spacer length of photoreactive newlineliquid crystalline polyesters containing bis benzylidene alkanones newlineand oxadiazole units The bis benzylidene alkanones chromophores in newlinethe main chain can constitute both as a mesogen and photo reactive centre newlinewhile oxadiazole is a well known fluorophore The photochromic bisbenzylidene chalcone precursors were prepared by the reaction of acetone cycloalkanones with newlinephydroxybenzaldehyde in absolute ethanol with a Lewis acid catalyst to yield newlinethe four different precursors newline |
