Abstract: Modifying proteins with other types of molecules like sugars for newlineimparting character required is an emerging trend in biotechnology in an newlineapplication Among such modifications covalent lipid modification of newlineproteins is significant as it provides hydrophobicity and aids in the attachment newlineof such proteins onto the ELISA plates and biosensor surfaces used in newlinediagnostics liposomes and immunoliposomes in targeted drug delivery newlinecrossing of hydrophobic cellular barriers such as blood brain barriers and also newlinein enhanced antigenicity In this regard the bacterial lipid modification of newlineproteins characterized by enzymatic formation of N acyl S diacylglyceryl newlinecysteine at the N terminal is attractive for its obvious advantages in newlinedeveloping bioreactors The molecular level understanding of lipid newlinemodification pathway in bacteria enabled is to develop an in vivo strategy newlineusing E coli for such modification Present study extends such understanding newlineto develop a facile in vitro enzymatic bioreactor for lipid modifying a variety newlineof proteinaceous targets especially peptides newline
