A Study on Agriculture Finance by Banks In Selected Districts of Gujarat

newline ABSTRACT newlineThe main purpose of the study was to know the growth of agriculture finance in Gujarat and to know the opinion of farmers regarding various agricultural credit provided by the banks. The aim was also to study the new initiatives by the government for the development of the agriculture sector. Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mahesana, Sabarkantha and Surendranagar districts were selected for the study. A total of 500 respondents across the districts was studied for the purpose. Further, hypotheses were studied with the help of various statistical tools. It has been found during the research that agriculture is an eminent part of Gujarat. Gujarat s agriculture depends on various controllable and uncontrollable factors and that s the main reason behind variation in the agriculture production of Gujarat. It has been found that the growth of agriculture credit has increased in the state. The government has started programs to educate the farmers and launched various agricultural policies to support agriculture activity in the State. These steps are desirable and fruitful for the advancement of the sector but still, there are some basic issues that need more attention.
