Urban planning and management requires large scale mapping of urban newlinefeatures like road building open area vegetation etc These maps can be newlineobtained through conventional survey or by the remote sensing method newlineConventional survey is tedious and consumes more human power as well as newlinetime whereas the remote sensing offers higher spatial spectral radiometric newlineand temporal resolution Especially due to the advancement in sensor design newlineof high resolution satellite remote sensing namely IKONOS and newlineQUICKBIRD has 1m and 063m of Panchromatic PAN sensor and 4m and newline28m of spatial resolution of Multi Spectral Sensor MSS There are newlinenumerous methods available to handle the low resolution remote sensing data newlinethrough the pixel based analysis But to handle the higher spatial resolution newlinedata the pixel based approach is not suitable because of increasing newlineheterogeneity newline newline
