Abstract

Electroencephalogram EEG a biological signal that represents the newlineelectrical activity of the brain is important for brain research medical newlinediagnosis and treatment EEG could be contaminated by potentials of noncerebral newlineorigin such as heart muscles eyes etc Voltage changes generated by newlineeye movements and blinks produce large electrical potential around the eyes newlineknown as Electrooculogram EOG It is a non cortical activity that spreads newlineacross the scalp and contaminates the EEG and such contaminating potentials newlineare called Ocular Artifacts OA OA are often dominant over other newlineelectrophysiological contaminating signals They significantly distort EEG newlinerecordings causing problems for analysis and interpretation by clinicians and newlinea nuisance for researchers who investigate the electrophysiology of the brain newlineConsequently OA needs to be accounted for in any EEG study and newlineresearchers must take into account the effect of OA on the EEG newline newline
