Abstract: A Mobile Ad Hoc Network MANET is a selfconfiguring newlineinfrastructureless network of mobile devices connected by wireless links The newlinemain challenge in the design and building of ad hoc networks is the newlinedevelopment of dynamic routing protocols which can efficiently find routes newlinebetween two communicating nodes The routing protocol must be able to keep newlineup with the high degree of node mobility which often changes the overall newlinenetwork topology drastically and unpredictably newlineThe proposed work first presents an Abstraction Way Point Routing newlineAWPR Logical split in the domain of the ad hoc network is separated based newlineon network area node size velocity and radio signal propagation range The newlineinterface nodes between the logical domains are the way point nodes to newlinedecrease routing overhead Way points include the source and the destination newlineWay point routing plays an important role in improving the efficiency of newlinerouting protocols However efficiency of way point routing needs to be newlineimproved in terms of scalability security and adaptability AWPR uses newlineDynamic Source Routing DSR as the inter segment routing protocol and Ad newlinehoc Ondemand Distance Vector AODV as the intra segment routing newlineprotocol combined into one hierarchical routing protocol which improves the newlineefficiency of routing in terms of the data delivery ratio and decreased routing newlineoverheads One distinct advantage of this model is that when a node on the newlineroute moves out or fails only two waypoint nodes of the broken segment have newlineto find a new segment In addition this model is lightweight because it newlinemaintains a hierarchy only for nodes on active routes On the other hand newlineexisting hierarchical routing protocols such as Cluster headGateway Switch newlineRouting CGSR and Zone Routing Protocol ZRP maintain hierarchies for newlinethe entire network newlineSecondly the proposal presents an adaptive MaximumMinimum newlineMaxMin Fairness scheme to achieve better fairness in the data flow of the newlineMANET for both the variants of Transmission Control Protocol TCP and newlineUser Datagram Protocol UDP newline newline
