dc.description.abstract | Two series of xanthene and azo dyes containing monomers were newlinesynthesized via precursors through Williamson aryl ether conditions with newlinespacers such as m bromo alkanols and monomers were newlineobtained by reacting with methacryloyl chloride in THF solvent at ice cold newlineconditions All the polymers were synthesized using free radical solution newlineaddition polymerization technique using AIBN as an initiator at 60 newline24 h The reaction mixture was poured into excess of methanol and the newlineprecipitated polymers were filtered washed with methanol and purified by newlinedissolving in THF and reprecipitated with excess methanol newlineThe xanthene dyes containing polymers are freely soluble in newlineAcetone THF DMSO and insoluble in hydrocarbons such as hexane newlineBenzene toluene and alcohols like methanol ethanol and 2 propanol newlineWhereas sudan dye containing polymers are soluble in chloroform acetone newlineTHF DMSO and insoluble in hydrocarbons and alcoholic solvents newline newline | en_US |
