Abstract: The problem of impact damage in laminated composite structures newlineand the consequent reduction in residual strength has been a topic of continual newlineresearch for the couple of decades A quick residual strength prediction of the newlinestructural behavior always provides useful inputs to designers working in an newlineindustrial environment A detailed study of the strength prediction methods newlineavailable in the world wide web resulted in establishing a fact that there is no newlineunique failure criterion applicable to all the composite materials Hence this newlineresearch area has been chosen to understand the fracture strength prediction of newlinecomposite structures subjected to impact and thereby to establish a fracture newlinecriterion which will reasonably predict the residual strength for all types of newlinecomposites The main objective of this study is to assess and predict the newlinetensile compressive and impact fracture strength of composite structures with newlinecircular and elliptical flaws newline newline
