dc.description.abstractEarthquakes and Tsunami in recent years throughout the world have created challenges in the structural engineering community to pursue considerable research on the behaviour of structures under seismic loading It has now become an urgent need to develop innovative composite materials to tackle seismic effect High performance materials are those with increased properties such as strength toughness ductility and durability The use of high performance materials in the critical areas in high rise buildings includes beam column connections selected plastic hinges or fuse locations of seismic resistant structures or lower columns base shear walls etc Slurry Infiltrated Fibre CONcrete is a material of high strength high performance in all the essential properties which is made by infiltrating steel fibre bed with a specially designed cement based slurry Since the material has an excellent performance in strength, impact and abrasion resistance ductility etc they can be used in structural applications where accidential or abnormal loads are encountered during serviceen_US
