Nitric oxide (NO) in the form of SNP at low concentration impart positive effect on rhizogenesis. Furthermore, co-application of NO along with IAA (Indole acetic acid) improved rooting over that of NO alone as well as IAA alone. NO and IAA displayed a synergistic mechanism of action during adventitious root formation. However, application of respective scavenger/inhibitors reversed the growth promoting effect of both the growth regulators. Furthermore, supplementation with NO and IAA regularized the fluctuation in carbohydrate and nitrogen metabolism; yet, the effect was best depicted in case of combined treatment of NO and IAA. newline
