Abstract: | Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa (20th Nov. 1858 Lucknow 21st Oct. 1931 Hyderabad) is the name of a genius litterateur writer and great intellectual in the world of Urdu. Umra-o-Jaan Ada as a film has received a great fame, but a few people actually know it is a master piece novel by Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa. This novel can be seen in most of the syllabi at M.A. level and consequently, the matter of the same standard has been written on the novel so far. Moreover, our critics and researchers have almost forgotten about the other writings of Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa newlineIn this context, I have done my research on Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa s Literary contribution and have made my study interdisciplinary by focusing on social and cultural aspects besides literature. So the present study, Socio cultural consciousness of Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa , has been divided into seven chapters. newlineThe first two chapters are the key chapter of the thesis. The first chapter entitled The Socio Cultural representation gives a detailed overview of all the three subjects as the title suggests. The second chapter on Socio Cultural Circumstances of Ruswa s Period frames detailed background by presenting all the movements and related personalities from 1857 Revolt/Revolution to 1947 Indian Freedom struggle, which were directly and indirectly the contemporaries of Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa and have greatly influenced on him. The chapter three is about the life and personality of Mirza Muhammad Hadi Ruswa and the chapter four of the thesis Presents a thorough socio cultural study of his novels. Similarly, the socio cultural study of his Dramas have been done accordingly to the subject in the chapter five of the thesis. whereas the critical evaluation of the Ruswa s other writings from socio cultural perspective has been attempted in the chapter sixth. The crux of the study has been summered up in the concluding chapter (seven) of the thesis. newline newline |
