Abstract: Tumor is the largest health problem of the medical world. There are different methods available to detect the tumor in any part of the human body. Microwave imaging is one of the best and verified methods used to detect early stage tumor in the body part with the help of ultra-wideband antennas. In the dissertation, different types of ultra wideband antennas have been designed and fabricated with different shapes of the tumor and brain phantom models, and the tumor is detected with the help of microwave imaging. newline newlineInitially ultra-wideband planner antennas with A-shape slot in the front plane and the modified ground plane has been designed. Further, single layer brain phantom model is designed and interfaced with the proposed antenna with and without tumor. The tumor is detected by observing variations in antenna performance parameters viz. current density, SAR (Specific absorption rate), Return-loss. newline newlineMulti-slotted modified ground plane antenna is also proposed for brain tumor detection. Proposed antenna is miniaturized planner antenna because of its size reduction. Triangular shaped tumor is detected by observing variation in the antenna performance parameter. newline newlineMultilayer brain phantom model has been also proposed for the detection of the spherical shaped tumor. Multilayer brain phantom model actually consists five layer of brain namely brain, CSF, dura, bone, fat, skin. Multilayer brain phantom model interacts with the miniaturized antenna and detect the tumor by observing the variation in the performance parameters of an antenna with and without tumor. newline
