The fundamental requirement for the wireless systems to support mobility is that it must be aware of the location where the terminal resides at any point in time Ability to determine the mobile terminal s future locations and access points, as it moves inside the network while being connected can result in significant improvements in system performance The importance of newlinebeing aware of a terminal s location can be seen at both the network and service levels In next generation wireless networks the concurrent availability of multiple networks would make location information strategic The evolving need for precise mobility and location information mandates a comprehensive research in these areas The objective of this study is to develop a unified user profile framework for mobility prediction which could accommodate the varied newlinelocation dependent requirements of future wireless networks Since prediction algorithms and simulation studies heavily rely on the user s mobility characteristics, a better understanding of users mobility patterns and network usage characteristics is essential newlineen_US
