The finding of efficient catalysts for the selective insertion of one newlineoxygen atom from oxygen donors like hydrogen peroxide iodosyl benzenes newlineperoxy acids or dioxygen itself into various organic molecules under mild newlineconditions remains a difficult challenge in organic chemistry In biological newlinesystems enzymes called monooxygenases are able to catalyze such newlinemonooxygenation reactions under very mild conditions Cytochrome P450 is newlineone of such monooxygenases The role of Cytochrome P450 enzymes in newlinephysiological process and their breadth of oxidative chemistry make this newlineenzyme a superfamily interesting to physiologists and mechanistic newlineenzymologists A possible approach in this field is to mimic the biological newlinesystems Chemists have paid much attention to mimic Cytochrome P450 newlineusing synthetic metalloporphyrins because they bear a strong resemblance to newlinethe former in both structures and catalytic property newline newlineen_US
