dc.description.abstractThe work described in this thesis is proposed to design and synthesize various living newlineradical polymers using living radical polymerization (LRP) techniques, viz. Atom newlineTransfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP) and Reversible addition-fragmentation chain newlinetransfer (RAFT) polymerization methods to gain narrow molar mass dispersity (and#272;M) and to newlinehave more insight regarding the properties related to the macromolecular architecture. The newlineaim of this work was to successfully prepare tryptophan, N-vinyl caprolactam and 6-amino newlinehexanoic acid based polymers using LRP technique. For this purpose, RAFT polymerization newlinewas used for the preparation of amino acid based polymers and ATRP was used for the newlinepolymerization of NVCL. In these studies, optimization of the polymerization process is of newlinehigh importance in order to carefully control the polymer molecular weight and design. The newlineremaining part of this thesis is concerned with the study of various other properties and/or newlineapplications of the polymers which emerge due to macromolecular architecture. newline
