Abstract: Childhood and Adolescent Obesity and Overweight is a modifiable, non communicable disease increasing rapidly in the past few decades and is a major global concern. South Asian adolescents; aged 13 to 17 years ( Pubertal age) possess more of FM when compared to Western population. There is a strong evidence regarding tracking of adolescent obesity into adulthood obesity and leads to early mortality and morbidity due to various complications which includes CVD; diabetes; dyslipedemia; musculoskeletal; neurological; cognitive; reproductive; cancer and psychological disorders. Fitness is a marker of childhood and adolescent health and a predictor of adulthood health. It is a strong indicator of morbidity and mortality in adult life. The main purpose of this study is to know the variation in health and skill related fitness parameters among obese; overweight and normal weight high school boys and girls of Hyderabad. newlineMethods: The data was collected from various schools of Hyderabad and as per the prevalence of obesity 8.88% and OW 15.1%, the sample size determined was 350 for each group. Children between 13 to 16 years of age were taken into the study. As per WHO; IOTF, IAP growth charts, BMI was measured for all the children who met the inclusion criteria.. BMI 5thlt 85th percentile was classified as Normal weight group (NW); BMI of 85th to lt95th percentiles were classified as OW group and BMIgt95th percentile were classified as obese group. All the groups were evaluated for health and skill fitness parameters using Eurofit testing battery. Total of 4 health and 6 skill fitness outcomes were measured between and within the three groups and between the genders. newlineResults: Data was expressed by mean and SD for continuous normal data and median and IQR for continuous non normal data. The anthropometric values of BMI, WC and Skin fold thickness were more among obese followed by OW followed by normal weight boys and girls ( P lt0.05). newlineThe health fitness parameters (BMI; SFT;SUT;SRT;CRF) displayed significant difference between
