Today organizations are operating in too much complex and competitive environment. Human Resource professional must therefore, operate in more strategic manner and also on proactive basis. Competencies possessed by a majority of HR people are no longer adequate to face today business world challenges. newlineTherefore, the need to map the competencies has become more pronounced. IT industry, being one of the top contributors in the economic growth of India, requires a skilled and competent workforce as per its needs. Requirement for the competency mapping and employee development is the need of hour for today s business organizations in order to face challenges and show there capabilities and capacities. The main aim of this research work was to evaluate the role of competency mapping and employee development in IT industry.
