In the recent years, recognition of anions is found to be an emerging area of research. newlineBecause these anions have a vital role in biological field, environment and daily to daily life. newlineThis pyrophosphate is the product of ATP hydrolysis and has a critical role to play in several newlinebiological processes. Also fluoride is an important anion as per as biological and newlineenvironmental fields are concern. So we have developed some of the terpyridine based zinc newlineand cadmium complexes which act as a pyrophosphate (PPi) and fluoride sensor. We have newlinedone this sensing in aqueous medium, so that our probe can be applied in biological systems. newlineTo prove this we have successfully employed our probe in HeLa cells, which is a cancerous newlinecell. For this sensing we have adopted UV-visible and fluorescence methods due to their fast newlineand accurate response. For this we have synthesized various highly fluorescent terpyridine newlineligands. Again these terpyridine ligands are fluorescent due to intra molecular charge transfer newlinetransition, which was proven by photophysical as well as computational analysis.
