Abstract: The profession of teachers is varying from the other profession. Teacher has to be active, dynamic and update with the current and upcoming concepts and events. Teaching is alert and tough task. The teacher must be capable to fulfill the needs of the students and the needs of the students are different according to the intellectual capability and his social and economical background. There are many factors that directly and indirectly affect the profession. The effect can be positive or negative. In this study the researcher studied the stress and organizational commitment of primary and secondary school teachers. The two concepts have importance as far as the school environment is concerned. The study explores and compares the stress and organizational commitment of primary and secondary school teachers by considering the factors like gender i.e. male and female, experience i.e. fresher and experience and type of school i.e. aided and unaided. newlineThe present study revealed the relationship between stress and organizational commitment of school teacher. The major objective of the study was to ascertain the stress and organizational commitment of primary and secondary school teachers in relation to various factors such as gender, experience and type of school and to find out the relationship between these two variables. The study revealed that there is negative and significant relationship between the stress and organizational commitment of primary and secondary school teachers with respect to the various factors. This implies that higher the stress scores lower will be the organizational commitment and lower the stress scores higher will be the organizational newlinecommitment. The study also found the significant difference in the scores of stress and organizational commitment of fresher and experienced and aided and unaided school teachers. For the sake of education the researchers has given few suggestions to the teacher, Principal and management to maintain optimum level of stress and increase the organizational commit
